Up Coming Events

Anyone excited for the winter olympics coming up? Or how about the Super Bowl? Anyone up for World Cup Soccer?

To all of those Football loving Americans, the Super Bowl is on Sunday! As you should know- which I didn't and ended up asking a friend. The result being making a total fool of myself!! So anyhow, the game that will be commencing is Seahawks vs Broncos at 6:30 pm. And according to this website, we have 2 days, 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 20 seconds until kickoff. Of course the time is ticking down as I type this.
Go Broncos!

The Olympics of 2014 are being held in Sochi Russia to any of those who didn't know. They begin on February 7, 2014. And this year Nordic Ski Jumping for women is finally being introduced! One of my previous teacher's daughter is competing! She will be among some of the first to ever ski jump in the olympics as a woman!

Nordic Ski Jumping is quite the sport. Hurtling down an angled track to end up flying straight off a jump! You go flying through the air, sailing quite a few feet if you get enough momentum! How would I know this? In the past as a part of the P.E program, my grade got to experience this wonderful sport. You feel as if you're flying! Of course you have to stick the landing. If you don't, yard-sale!!!!!

World Cup this summer! Anyone going to Brazil? I have a few friends who are, and I'm so jealous! I guess I have a little token for the match however; the T.V and a model of the new Brazuca soccer ball. Well it's not mine per say, my sister's really. But hey, I can borrow it on the occasion...right?

Germany looks like they will do pretty well this year, they have new players that are really pulling the team together. I personally will continue to root for the Netherlands. Brazil and Spain of course are doing well.

January 31st, at last! January just seems to drag on and on! In my opinion it is the longest month of the year. There are no deadlines in January, New year has passed, and everyone is just trying to get their feet under them. All of my teachers seem to want to repeat the same lesson, over and over again. Well good news is Winter Break is coming up! A time to relax, ski, and forget about school. Just two more weeks away. Unfortunately, Science Fair is just around the corner. Needless to say, I still have a ton of work to do.

Friday, At Last!

It's finally friday! Which of course leads to the end of another school week; then the weekend which is abundant with laziness, sports, and hanging out with friends. Amazing right? Most definitely my favorite time of the week. And finally I can enjoy it, because all the tourists are leaving!! The ones who attended the Sundance Film Festival at least. I can now walk to my orchestra class without having to worry about running into people coming from a film in the Eccles. Center. Or go skiing without having to dodge people who think they are so adept at swinging, when really they have no idea whatsoever what they're supposed to be doing.
Yes we do need people to come and visit, it is after all good for the economy. Sometimes though it's like ''How can you be so stupid, it's this not that!'' I know that's unfair, plus I mean I'm a hypocrite seeing as how I have been to other places and not known what was going on.

Anyways, I attempted to try this one project. It involved putting died water into a water balloon, freezing it overnight (Either in the freezer or outside if it is 32ยบ F or colder). In the morning you are supposed to peel off the balloon to have an ice globe. It looked like so much fun, so of course I tried it to appeal to my younger sister and her friends. The only problem, finding a sink faucet that wouldn't tear the balloon. Needless to say I couldn't find one. The metal on the faucets at my house were edged and tore through the fine plastic. 'Why not use a cap?' you might ask, you know the ones you put on hoses to better control the water flow, well of course it didn't fit. So in the end my hands were stained blue, red, purple, green, and pink from all the food dye exploding on my hands when the balloon ripped. Grrrrrrr...........

What Should have
Happened
Maybe next time I will get it right. Oh yeah and this is the end result.

So yeah, maybe someday I will succeed like this person.

Well anyhow you guys have a good weekend! And have fun with the snow for those of you who live on the east coast of the US!

Epiphany!

Alright, straight to the point. So I have continuously said that the art I post about is street art, which then lead to it being outdoor art. First off, sorry about all the confusion I honestly have no idea whatsoever what to blog about.
Anyways, I realized that half of the art I blogged about was public art and once again outdoor art. Simply that, it's sad that I only just figured that out. Oh well, for the rest of this blog post I guess.

So on my way over to Orchestra one day, I managed to find this.
Ice!
If you can't tell it's a piece of ice. Truly exquisite as it looks as if there are trees caught within the crystal structure. Well at least I find it beautiful. After finding the chunk of ice, and realizing how cold I was, I continued my journey to the orchestra class that happens to be located in a different building. Well as I walked I realized how privileged I am to live where I do. The beauty really does take your breath away at times. People just take it for granted. And I know I sound like a total tourist for saying that, but I can enjoy beauty too can't I?

So how was everyone's holiday? Hope it was well! I spent time with family as I hope you all got to do. This resulted in my attendance of a play at the Ford's Theater Washington D.C! I attended the performance of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. They did a magnificent job!
I sat under and diagonal from the balcony in which Abraham Lincoln was shot. To this day no one has sat in that box, or approached the seat. They have historical tours of course, you can even go across the street to where doctors tried to save him. It truly is fascinating, all that history within a block.
The Seat
Note, please check out these blogs! They are the coolest! I will be listing more each week. Some are quite entertaining.

So I really am sorry that my posts are so boring, and don't lie, I know they are. Once again I really don't know what to write about!!! So in the end I decided that each post will just be a random assortment of questions and facts about society, history, and sciences. A very wide variety of topics, but hopefully the posts will be more interesting.
